عن المؤلف

Caius Plinius Secundus, commonly known as Pliny the Elder, was a Roman author and naturalist whose extensive works laid the groundwork for future scientific literature. He is best known for his encyclopedic work, the 'Natural History', which covers a vast array of topics including astronomy, geography, anthropology, and biology. This monumental text consists of 37 books and is one of the largest single works to have survived from the Roman Empire, serving as a crucial source of information for later scholars and scientists.

Pliny was not only a prolific author but also an accomplished military commander and administrator. His curiosity about the natural world and the human condition drove him to gather knowledge from various sources, including other scholars and firsthand observations. He was deeply influenced by earlier Greek philosophers and writers, and his writings reflect a synthesis of their thoughts as well as his own observations. Unfortunately, Pliny's life ended tragically during the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD, while he was attempting to rescue friends and document the event. His legacy endures through his writings, which continue to be referenced in various fields of study.
