He is often referred to as the father of Latin Christianity due to his significant contributions to early Christian literature and thought.

His most notable works include the "Apologeticus," a defense of Christianity, and "De Baptismo," which discusses the significance of baptism. Tertullian's style is marked by his sharp wit and rhetorical skill. He was a pioneer in articulating key doctrines, and his influence can still be felt in various aspects of Christian theology today. Despite his later association with Montanism, a Christian sect he joined, Tertullian's early writings have established him as a crucial figure in the development of Christian doctrine and practice.
