Secluded Cabin Sleeps Six: A Novel of Thrilling Suspense
Reviews
For 98% of the book, I didn't like the characters at all, BUT there was something that kept me reading and even though I was dissatisfied with the ending, I'm kind of glad I finished it.The biggest issue with this book was the multiple threads (corruption, MeToo, sexual assault, DNA, serial killers) that ended up connecting but felt too convenient, rushed and messy. Leading up to the end, the different threads and characters' dialogue made the book convoluted and hard to follow. Some of the POVs were so jarring it was like it was a different book at times. The only character that was somewhat redeemable is Henry, as I liked his story and how he developed. But how he was introduced was very jarring that affected the overall enjoyment. Everything else was too out of place, the characters too unlikable (I can handle unlikable characters as long as it makes sense of the story), and their unlikeness made it difficult for me to get into the atmosphere. As well, since there were multiple POVs, I found that there was a decent amount of repetition that dragged the story.Overall, I gave this 2 stars because even though it took a lot in me to keep going, I was interested in seeing how the threads connected.
