Harvey Goodwin was an English theologian and bishop, best known for his contributions to religious literature and pastoral care. Born in 1818 in Lindfield, Sussex, he was educated at Trinity College, Cambridge, where he developed a profound understanding of theology and the scriptures. Goodwin became the first Bishop of Carlisle in 1856, a position he held until his death in 1891. During his tenure, he was known for his strong advocacy for education and the social responsibilities of the church, actively engaging with the issues of his time.
