My Rating: ★★★☆☆A classic that paved the way for modern romance, Pride and Prejudice is undeniably well-written—but this one just didn’t sweep me off my feet. While I can appreciate Jane Austen’s sharp wit and social commentary, it’s not a story I’d revisit (even as an audiobook).💔 Trigger Warnings:Class prejudice & sexism, manipulative/emotionally toxic behaviour, financial struggles, societal pressures (particularly for women)✨ Tropes:• Enemies to Lovers – The original slow burn between Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy• Marriage of Convenience – A reflection of the societal norms of the era• Witty Banter – Clever conversations and biting humor throughout• Social Commentary – A deep dive into class, gender, and expectations in Regency EnglandThe novel follows Elizabeth Bennet, a spirited and intelligent young woman, as she navigates love, class divides, and her own evolving opinions. Mr. Darcy—brooding, proud, and frustratingly misunderstood—challenges her beliefs and ultimately, her heart. While Austen’s writing is undeniably iconic, this just wasn’t the story for me. The pacing felt slow, the romance didn’t quite grip me, and even the movie adaptations failed to stir up much emotion. That said, I can still respect the brilliance behind Austen’s social critiques and her lasting legacy in literature. Is this a timeless love story—or one best appreciated from a distance? 🫖📚

Re-read 2024: 4.5 ⭐️The audiobook narrated by Kate Beckinsale was so good! I had forgotten how funny and heartwarming this classic was, I can’t believe I first read this almost 17 years ago!

"It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife"What more can be said of such a classic as Pride and Prejudice? At first was so difficult to understand the language and the context because of the english is not my first language but after reading the chapters more carefully and doing research of the context of every chapter, i can say that i feel really immerse in the period. I loved how beautifully written is this book. And my favorite moments of the book is when Mr. Darcy accompanies Lizzie every day in the garden "causally", i think is the first moment that i really fall in love with the character of Darcy.I just didn’t expect love this book as much as I did because I don’t really read romance but I loved this book.

This was my first Jane Austen read and I have to say, it lived up to my expectations.Pride and Prejudice talks about women's place in society. Each character has their own opinions and behaviours making each character differential from the next. I love the way Jane Austen describes her characters through their thoughts, stature, reputations , opinion and rank in society rather through a long description of how they look.Obviously, Mr Darcy is a brilliant character, but there is more to Pride and Prejudice than his greatly written love confession.

My favorite book of all time. It's amazing how well this books translates and still capitvates over time. I have it in paperback, audio CD, and on my nook. IT's my go-to if I'm not reading anything else. I have so many portions memorized. The language used takes you back to another place in time. Reading transports you like nothing else can. This book is comedic, dramatic, romantic, and can be read by all ages and appreciated in each season on life.
