René Goscinny was a prominent French comic writer and editor, best known for his work on the beloved comic series Asterix. Born in Paris to Polish Jewish parents, Goscinny's early life was marked by a passion for storytelling, which eventually led him to pursue a career in comics. He collaborated with illustrator Albert Uderzo to create Asterix in 1959, a series that humorously depicted the adventures of a small Gaul village resisting Roman occupation. This comic became a cultural phenomenon, translated into numerous languages and adapted into films and stage productions.

Goscinny also co-created the Lucky Luke series, which follows the adventures of a cowboy in the American West. His distinctive writing style, characterized by sharp wit and engaging narratives, not only entertained readers but also influenced a generation of comic creators.
