Loved this book and I really liked the fmc but I spoiled the book for my self so I don't think I'll finish the series
Loving the plot of the book although that's the only thing that's interesting and keeping me curious at the moment. Lots of characters introduced but not a lot of character development happening in this book. The exciting points seemed a bit rushed through and left me with more questions than answers.
Reading Assassin's Blade first really helped set the tone of this book. There were moments I would have felt confused or in the dark had I not read it first. It also made certain moments far more impactful...knowing the significance. It was great seeing that there is magic out there still. Magic that the King can not banish. There is still just as much back-stabbing as was in Assassin's blade. That made me not trust anyone.....anyone. I look forward to the next book.
I really loved this book. I could not put it down. Read it over 2 days, and I loved the story. I don't know what I'm missing, but it just doesn't feel right to give it 5 stars. However, I really enjoyed the story and Sarah J Maas's writing. I'm just confused about how to pronounce some of the names.
4.5 ⭐️ This book was so good but I am so happy I read Assassin's Blade first. I was able to jump right in and know the backstory. I can't wait to see what happens next.

Great official start to the series. Kind of felt similar to the hunger games but with a very different set of political motivations for both the contestants and hosts. I wish we learnt more about the other contestants but I have a feeling we’ll learn more about them through the series so it’s alright. I loved all the new characters we’ve been introduced to especially Dorian and Chaol. Chaol seemed very much like a sibling at the beginning but I think we’ve moved past that and they seem to be really good friends for now which I love. Celaena deserves the world. It looks like we’re are going to have a very interesting love triangle through the next books. Reread as well
Fun book, the plot completely changed half way through and was so intriguing
My first reread and I love this series so much ❤️. Like it is easier to read it but if feels like the first time also. The small details and everything love it.
After reading the majority of 1st person narrative the past few years, I will admit that 3rd person is sometimes hard for me to get in to. So I will also begrudgingly admit that this story was easy enough to immerse myself in to… after side-eyeing the physical book and picking up the audiobook instead.Reading the ACOTAR series first probably didn’t help either, where I was expecting SJM’s other books to also be in that narrative. I am glad I finally bit the bullet and started this series. The storyline drew me in, and I’m left wondering what secrets still lay hidden beneath characters. I already have the second book checked out, so off I go to find out more.So far, ACOTAR is still my favorite, so we’ll see how the standing goes the further I get in to this series.
