Johann Weyer
À propos de l'auteur
Johann Weyer was a pioneering physician and one of the first to write critically about witch hunts and the persecution of supposed witches. A contemporary of Paracelsus, he challenged the prevailing beliefs of his time regarding witchcraft and magic, emphasizing a more rational and scientific approach to understanding human behavior and mental illness. His most notable work, "De Praestigiis Daemonum" (On the Tricks of Demons), argued that many of the supposed witches were actually suffering from mental disorders, and he advocated for their humane treatment rather than execution.
