Iolo Morganwg, born Edward Williams in 1747, was a Welsh poet, antiquarian, and a key figure in the revival of Druidry in the 18th century. He is best known for his contributions to the Welsh cultural renaissance and for his influential works that sought to reestablish the ancient practices and beliefs of the Druids. Morganwg's writings, particularly 'Barddas,' compiled a wealth of original documents and poetry that illustrated the theological and philosophical underpinnings of the Bardo-Druidic systems from Britain. His efforts to promote Welsh culture and identity were significant during a time when such expressions were often marginalized.
