Lucius Annaeus Seneca, commonly known as Seneca the Younger, was a prominent Stoic philosopher, statesman, and playwright from ancient Rome. Born in Corduba (now Córdoba, Spain) around 4 BC, he was raised in Rome where he became a tutor and advisor to Emperor Nero. His work encompasses a wide range of philosophical discourses, essays, and tragedies, all of which have had a lasting impact on Western thought and literature. Seneca's philosophical writings emphasize the importance of reason, virtue, and self-control, advocating for a life in accordance with nature and the principles of Stoicism.
