Anne Frank was a Jewish girl who gained fame posthumously with the publication of her diary, in which she documents her life in hiding from 1942 to 1944 during the German occupation of the Netherlands in World War II. Born in Frankfurt in 1929, Anne and her family moved to Amsterdam to escape the escalating anti-Semitic policies in Germany. Her diary, known as 'The Diary of a Young Girl', provides a poignant and personal insight into the thoughts and experiences of a young girl growing up in a time of extreme adversity.
