Ayn Rand was a Russian-American novelist, philosopher, and playwright who is best known for her influential works, including 'Atlas Shrugged' and 'The Fountainhead'. Born in St. Petersburg, she experienced the upheaval of the Russian Revolution, which profoundly shaped her views on individualism and capitalism. Rand emigrated to the United States in 1926 and developed a philosophical system known as Objectivism, which advocates for rational self-interest and the pursuit of one's own happiness as the highest moral purpose.
