Goffredo Mameli was an Italian poet and patriot, best known for writing the lyrics to the Italian national anthem, "Il Canto degli Italiani," also known as "Fratelli d'Italia." Born in Genoa, Mameli was a fervent supporter of the Italian unification movement, also known as the Risorgimento. His passion for his country and its independence was evident in his writings and his actions during a tumultuous period in Italian history. He joined the revolutionary cause at a young age, embodying the spirit of nationalism that inspired many of his contemporaries.
