Proclus was a prominent philosopher of the Neoplatonic school who lived during the 5th century. He is best known for his extensive commentaries on Platonic texts and for his own philosophical works that sought to synthesize and expand upon the ideas of Plato. His writings include significant contributions to the understanding of Platonic theology and mathematics, particularly through his commentaries on Euclid's Elements. Proclus' work was influential in the development of later philosophical thought, particularly during the Renaissance when his ideas were rediscovered and celebrated.
