Om författaren
Ayn Rand was a Russian-American writer and philosopher, best known for her novels that explore individualism and capitalism. Her most famous works, 'Atlas Shrugged' and 'The Fountainhead,' advocate for a philosophy known as Objectivism, which emphasizes rational self-interest and the pursuit of one’s own happiness. Rand's characters often embody the virtues she cherished, including creativity, independence, and resilience against societal pressures.
Born in Russia and emigrating to the United States in the early 1920s, Rand's experiences shaped her views on government and economics. She became a controversial figure, attracting both fervent admirers and staunch critics. Despite the polarized opinions about her philosophy, her influence on libertarianism and conservative thought in America is undeniable. Throughout her life, she wrote extensively, founded the Ayn Rand Institute, and continued to advocate for her beliefs until her death in 1982.
