Eric Fenby

Eric Fenby was an English composer, conductor, and musicologist, best known for his close association with the composer Frederick Delius. Born in Scarborough, he developed a passion for music at an early age and pursued formal studies at the Royal College of Music. Fenby became Delius's amanuensis in the latter part of the composer's life, assisting him in the completion of several works when Delius was unable to write due to illness. His unique position allowed him to gain profound insights into Delius's creative process and philosophy, which he later documented in his writings.

Fenby authored several books, the most notable being "Delius As I Knew Him," which provides a personal perspective on Delius's life and music.
