Granville Sharp
关于作者
Granville Sharp was a prominent English abolitionist and a key figure in the movement against the transatlantic slave trade. Born in Shrewsbury in 1734, he dedicated much of his life to humanitarian causes, particularly the rights of enslaved Africans. Sharp was instrumental in several landmark legal cases that challenged the legality of slavery in Britain, most notably the case of James Somerset in 1772, which effectively rendered slavery illegal in England and Wales. His tireless advocacy and writings played a significant role in raising public awareness about the injustices of slavery.
