关于作者

John Kennedy Toole was an American author best known for his posthumously published novel, "A Confederacy of Dunces," which won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1981. Born in New Orleans in 1937, Toole was a bright but troubled young man who struggled with mental health issues throughout his life. After earning a degree from Tulane University, he served in the U.S. Army before returning to New Orleans to pursue a career in writing.

Despite his talent, Toole faced rejection from publishers during his lifetime, leading to deep frustration and despair. In 1969, he tragically took his own life at the age of 31. It was only after his death that his mother, Thelma Toole, championed his work, ultimately leading to the publication of "A Confederacy of Dunces," which has since become a classic of American literature, celebrated for its rich characters and sharp social commentary.
