
Sojourner Truth

Sojourner Truth was an African-American abolitionist and women's rights activist who was born into slavery in New York. She escaped to freedom in 1826 and became a prominent speaker for the abolition of slavery and for women's rights. Truth is best known for her impassioned speeches, including her famous "Ain't I a Woman?" speech delivered at the 1851 Women's Rights Convention in Akron, Ohio.
