What a strange book! It made me laugh out loud and broke my heart repeatedly! How can such a disagreeable, grumpy old man be this much agreeable and caring?Great book!In some parts I got a little bored,and for personal reasons, I didn't like some parts of the book. I'm going to check out Fredrik Backman's other books as well.

Unique and satisfying book in which the main character works his way into your heart. Enjoyed it!

I'm not crying, I just got dust in my eyes okay T_T)Fuck, this book was amazing. So well written with fantastic characters. I didn't expect this book to have so many funny moments, to have so many moments that made me smile so wide it hurt.This is the best found family book I have ever read and this book has taken its place among my favorites. I fucking hate how it ended because it hurts but I know it had to be that way. I figured it was coming, I just hoped it wouldn't. Even so, this book is still amazing.This is one of those book that fucking hurts deep in the soul, but it hurts so good.

Ove is like Mr. Fredrickson on steroids and somehow that makes him twice as lovable.

⭐️4Considering this was my first Fredrik Backman book, it was a big win for me. The more chapters I read, the more charmed I became. There is something heart-warming and touching about this book that I cannot describe. This book really worked for me in two ways. One being the way this book slowly unravels different aspects of Ove's life through a series of often sad flashbacks of his relationship with his father, as well as how he dealt with some cruel blows that have defined much of him as an individual, one who is utterly stubborn, grouchy, and opinionated. This book also depicts Ove's tender, loving affection for his deceased wife, Sonja, in multiple flashbacks. The moments where we get a glimpse into Ove's past really worked for me and were handled well, making it hard not to feel for him and fall for him as a character.Another being the host of lovable, quirky side characters you meet along the way (e.g. Parvaneh, Patrick, Nasanin, Misrad, Adrian). As a reader, I'm usually not a fan of quirky, normally nosy side characters, as I generally find them grating and just plain irritating. However, just as with Ove, they quickly won me over and were the book's most charming aspect, as you would expect from any book that deals with the found family trope. The amount of wholesome, comical interactions between Ove and characters like Parvanah was honestly just gold.This book was overall a great read for me. Definitely looking forward to reading more from Fredrik Backman.

A man called Ove is a book that wins everyone's hearts. What is special about this story is that there’s not really character growth. What happens is that at the beginning of the book we meet Ove that is an old man that is grumpy and angry all the time, and as the book progress we start to understand Ove, and even though he has not changed, you as a reader have changed and everyone that meets Ove start understands him too. The writing was a little simple and at first, I was not a big fan but I really like it at the end because you don’t even notice when you start appreciating the characters. Im going to read more about the author.

Some books you read because someone recommended you or you read because you always wanted to read the book. But sometimes you read the book because you liked its name or synopsis or most of the time its cover. I know most people say don't read the book only because you like its cover, but thank god I bought this book. In some way this book ended my reading slum, for quite sometimes I wasn't able to pick a book and read it. But when I pick this book, then and there my reading slum ended. I only had one book on my favorite list and now it increased to two. I read some reviews people are saying "Ohh this book is so funny, so charming, so sad at the same time blah, blah, blah" but for me this book was comforting. People have one book which is comfortable for them to read at any time, for me this is that book. I mean its humor is so pure that you always throughout the book will have a grin face, even when there is something sad this book will not shy away to make you laugh at the situation. Here author is not trying to make you laugh by jokes or anything but the situation itself makes you laugh. I always laughs at the Patrick'The Lanky One's situation, he is my favorite character in this book.Alright now let's talk about the sad part. I am the type of person who does not cry while watching movies or while reading books. But this book will break your heart. You know what is going to happen next but still you will not be able to control yourself from being sad and your eyes will fill with tears. The romantic angle between Ove and Sonja is so genuine and real, it really melts your heart. When this line came up "Maybe neither of them forgave themselves for not being able to give the women they loved more than anything what they wanted more than anything" I stopped took a moment or few, lift my finger up slide it through my eyes and wipe my tears off.This book neither tries to force you to laugh or cry. But this emotion automatically affects you. Because the author "Fredrik Backman" has done such a good job that from the very beginning he makes you connects with the character 'Ove' so whatever Ove is feeling you are feeling with him. There are so many character that you attach yourself with Parvaneh, Anita, Jimmy and many more but i not going to spoil your experience by telling you about these character. I want you to experience these feelings yourself that's why I didn't talk much about the content of the book or about the character. This book is not about that, its about the journey you go through, the emotions you go through with Ove.

reading this book made me think about my late father, how grandfather died and father had to take the job leaving his studies, i couldn't agree more with mr. Ove, he was so right about everything, it made me see things differently, what is our contribution to the society & world, and the changing environment. he was a man of punctuality and discipline. He likes to do things that we find trivial, like picking someone else's food wrappers to the dustbin in public places, we generally ignore it, we expect others to do that & that others is him. He do everything grumbling how stupid and selfish we common people are. rules are rules, he says, irony is that rules never helped him, those rules of white shirt men has taken everything that was left from his late father.  I'm so overwhelmed with emotions reading this. short synopsis: Its a story of a grumpy man who had lived in the changing world of imbeciles(he calls), he only had one motive to live: his wife, they were like sun and moon, he was his only ray of light but everything changed after one incident & how he had given up to live, but life doesn't go as planned, he eventually learned how to stand again with his friends, learned how to live & the journey is worth reading!! teaches us a lot of things, helps us to reflect our own actions towards our surroundings. i don't understand cars, but Mr. Ove can judge people by Car, he has saab, i google so many cars he owned, he believed that a car should be replaced in 3 years, why? read the bookthis book is like a wine, the more you read it, the more you love it. ♡ always will be in my recommendations forever!!

Four years later and I'm still crying._______________________________I'll write a review when I can think about this book without bursting into tears.
