I feel like the description of this book was a lie. It was meant to be a documentary about H.H. Holmes, but it really felt like the history of the Chicago Fair, including the murders. Also, the parts involving H.H. Holmes felt a lot more like a story than facts.

Erik Larson takes an interesting approach to the Chicago World Fair by writing narratives from two very different perspectives. I was skeptical on how an architectural approach would work next to a serial killer story, but the stories were well put together, going back and forth between the two men seamlessly. Certainly a unique, yet intriguing, way to recount a famous historical event.
