Ciaus is the son of and heir to Massimo, the distinguished and retired Legionnaire. Ciaus could have a good life as a wine producer but the excitement of foreign lands, exotic peoples and glorious battles point him in the footsteps of his father. The young man leaves his family and spends his life in the service of a man that he believes could be the next Emperor of Rome. Where Massimo did his best to support the empire, Ciaus is embroiled in the corruption and power struggles as five Generals fight for the throne.
