Going into this book blind was the best decision I could have made. I only briefly read the blurb when I bought the book. That was around 6 months ago.I needed a change and I just picked this book. What I didn't expect when I read this was to laugh as much as I did. This is a very character based book and I didn't think I'd like that as much but I found myself so engrossed in the lives of these people that I was even invested in the side characters. Especially Hank. I adored Hank so much. His relationship with Carter warmed my heart so much.I am glad they didn't do the whole miscommunication troupe throughout this whole book. The little bit at the end annoyed me but thankfully didn't last long. I genuinely believe Olivia and Carter are so perfect for each other, They were sweet and funny while being slightly chaotic.Overall this book was a breathe of fresh air and I definitely recommend it.
I loved this book! Carter and Olivia were so cute and they balanced each other out. There were plenty of laughs and there was plenty of spice. An all round good time! These two had a good relationship arc starting off with Carter thinking he can be his usual charming self and Olivia not taking any of it. It was interesting to see the character development for the two with Carter doing some self reflecting to become a better person and Olivia opening up and learning to trust. The side characters were top tier. This friend group is going to be a good time and I’m excited to see what’s next for them.Would recommend for sure!
My Rating: ★★★☆☆Becka Mack's "Consider Me" offers readers a sizzling hockey romance that has captivated the BookTok community. The story introduces Carter Beckett, the NHL's top player both on and off the ice, whose life is seemingly perfect until he meets Olivia Parker, a schoolteacher with no interest in dating athletes. This book is the first installment in the Playing for Keeps series, setting the stage for a tale of love and determination.Carter's character is charming and persistent, bringing a sense of authenticity to his pursuit of Olivia, who is wary of getting involved with a professional athlete. Olivia's reluctance adds an intriguing dynamic, as her character embodies strength and independence, making her more than just a love interest. The interactions between Carter and Olivia are filled with witty banter and chemistry, which are some of the book's highlights. However, despite the promising premise and engaging writing style, "Consider Me" didn't quite meet my expectations. The story was enjoyable, with well-developed characters and a solid plot, but it lacked a certain spark that would make it truly memorable. While it’s a well-crafted romance that fans of the genre may appreciate, it didn't stand out as a must-read for me.In conclusion, "Consider Me" is a solid entry into the hockey romance genre, with Becka Mack delivering a story that is both entertaining and heartfelt. While it may not be a book I'll revisit, it's still a worthy read for those looking for a light, enjoyable romance with a touch of sports.
Consider Me by Becka MackBook 1 of the 'Playing for Keeps' series.Carter Beckett & Olivia Parker 🖤4.5⭐'sTropes: - bad boy X good girl- friends to lovers- sports (hockey) - he fell first (& hard)✨"Can I show you something, Ollie girl?" I whisper against her lips. She strokes two fingers down the side of my face. "Of course, Carter. What do you want to show me?" Leaning my forehead against hers, I lay her wet hair over her shoulder before kissing her lips once more. My next breath rocks me to my core, and yet not as much as my next words do. "I want to show you how much I love you.✨The captain & center for the Vancouver Vipers🏒 is more than just a skilled hockey player; he's also known as a tremendous charmer. However, everything changes when he meets Olivia Parker at a birthday party and is instantly smitten. Olivia is unlike anyone he has ever pursued, and what's more, she rebuffs all of his attempts to woo her. Despite her initial reluctance, Olivia finds herself strongly drawn to Carter - he's kind, funny, and his confident demeanor starts to grow on her. 🥹I absolutely adored how well these two characters communicate with each other. It's one of the things I love most about romance novels. Olivia feels uncertain about her position in Carter's life due to his past, & Carter is constantly afraid of messing everything up. Despite their fears, they both manage to open up to each other & face their insecurities together. It's truly heartfelt to see them learn how to communicate & support each other.Carter and Olivia were just amazing together! At first, they seemed a bit unsure, but Carter turned out to be the perfect boyfriend for her. They're definitely one of those couples that are just meant to be together, & all the challenges they faced only made their happy ending even sweeter!*Read if you like sports romance, a big group of friends, and a whole lot of swoon-worthy smut.🌶️**I am absolutely so obsessed with Becka Mack's writing, this entire series is so damn amazing!!! ***The audios are a MUST. 🙌🏽
omg I was so scared what happened when Ollie thought he cheated on her. I don't think I ever heard that they wore a condom. Just saying. I like when here was chapters were skipped a month ahead to show the cute little romantic moments of their lives together. I felt so sorry for Adam to be treated like that because he is just so adorable. Jem sounds so adorable as he is a chubby little baby. I think there will be something between Jennie and Garett. It is cool that as well as Olivia and carters story you get Emmett's and cara's story running in the back.
