Yup, in 1 day i ate it up. This was literally the first of its kind i read. Maggie being a domme n Beau, well an absolute brat. The smut, the usuage of s** toys and the emotional aspect of the book were everything.
This book broke the cycle and I love it. I had been excited to know more about Beau since I met him, even as I disliked him for what he did to Charlie. But it was so obvious he was struggling with a lot; dealing with his dad's career and his mother's words in his ear. But reading this book gave a whole new light to his actions.Beau is a complicated guy who couldn't really find his place in the world. Until he meets Maggie and discovers she's exactly what he needs. And he is what she needs.Maggie spends a lot of the book worrying about how Emerson would react when he learns she's been screwing his son, and for good reason. He does get upset when he finds out. But like Maggie said, he had no room to talk considering his relationship with Charlie.I'd say I'm upset about Maggie's thoughts during that time but I understand them. Considering what she went through growing up, it makes sense that she would see Beau as too young for her, even when compared to Emerson's relationship with Charlie where it is almost 20 years of difference. To briefly cover why this book broke the cycle, this book didn't have the huge conflict most romance books I've read have. At some point, in a lot of the books I've read, something happens that makes the main couple split for a while. In this series alone, it had a moment in every book. In "Praise," it was Beau finding out about Emerson and Charlie; in "Eyes on Me," it was Mia finding out what Garrett did; and in "Give Me More," it was Drake feeling like he had to step away from Hunter and Isabel, leading to Hunter being the one who stepped away. But this book didn't really have that. The closest that comes to it was around the middle of the book when Maggie and Beau are having an argument. Beau says things that makes Maggie cry before he storms out. But then he's back shortly after. Then nothing else happens that can be considered real conflict, aside from Emerson finding out about them after an incident at the club. But even then, Maggie stands her ground and gives it to him straight.I loved "Give Me More," but this book was so good, it nearly passes "Give Me More" to become my favorite. Almost. It was really close. I liked the story and the attraction better in this one but I love the "Why Choose" element in "Give Me More."And I think this is where I will stop with this series. Eden's book is the 6th one coming in this series and, I'll be honest, I'm not all that interested to see her find love for herself. I like her as just Madame Kink, this powerful woman who does what she wants with whoever she wants. And I won't be reading "Highest Bidder." If you want to know why, there is a one star review that really made this decision easy. Nothing in the blurb for that book could have prepared me for what I found in the review. I won't get into what was said as anyone can just check it out themselves. But after reading that, I actually found my limit. The review does contain spoilers and normally I don't care about spoilers, they don't bother me. But reading that review made me decide I was not going to enjoy that book. Ronan is interesting and all but that book would ruin him for me. I liked him as just a background character who pops in every now and then. And what I read in that review would have been a huge turn-off. And it wasn't the age difference, funnily enough.I won't go into it as this is supposed to be a review for "Mercy" and my thoughts one the book and how it holds up with the others. But I just wanted to say this is where I am ending the series. So now I get to see where I will head next. So many options. And not nearly enough available for Audible.
i was nervous to read this one because i didn't like beau in book one, but i honestly really enjoyed it. maggie is a badass, of course! i really loved seeing this side of beau and the interactions with his dad!
