THE STORY OF OVERWHELMING LOSS AND FEAR AND THE POWER OF A MOTHER’S LOVE!
Chris and Jo Stafford have the perfect house in the perfect suburban neighborhood an hour north of Los Angeles, where they pursue a joint career as screenwriters. And now they have the perfect baby, six-month-old Adam—until he disappears from their backyard one hot summer day, there one second, chubby and adorable, gone the next.
The police are convinced Adam was stolen to be sold by a ring of local kidnappers. Chris’ and Jo’s marriage disintegrates under the stress of losing their only child. Then Carol Sueling, a reporter for The Tattler, prints a front page story suggesting baby Adam was taken by coyotes because of something she overheard an old Hispanic fortuneteller tell Jo.
Jo is appalled by the ludicrous story, but Buddy Sanchez, coyote hunter, illegal alien runner, and convict, finds an opportunity to convince Jo that the story is true, that baby Adam “sleeps with the beasts” as the fortuneteller told her, and that he is just the man to track Adam and the coyotes that took him—as long as he’s paid well. Sanchez and his deadly black Rottweiler Caesar are on the prowl for more than coyotes, though; Sanchez is a man with murderous intentions. And Jo is his perfect victim…
