الوصف

The book that took the world by storm....In his fifth year at Hogwart's, Harry faces challenges at every turn, from the dark threat of He-Who-Must-Not-Be- Named and the unreliability of the government of the magical world to the rise of Ron Weasley as the keeper of the Gryffindor Quidditch Team. Along the way he learns about the strength of his friends, the fierceness of his enemies, and the meaning of sacrifice. The Washington PostGo read Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix for the other main reason to love the series: their sheer comic exuberance even in the midst of high drama. Kids, of course, would mention this first. Jokes, gags and memorable put-downs pop up on nearly every page … Sometimes it seems we adult critics are so quick to take Harry Potter seriously (whether we're looking to praise or censure) that we forget how cheerful Rowling has been throughout this whole amazing, death-haunted enterprise. — Elizabeth Ward

Sorry my rose colored nostalgia glasses make it impossible to rate this (whole series) critically. My identity was, and still kinda is, far too connected lol

Reread: 1/23/17Returning to the Harry Potter world is always magical, but since I always sputter out on a read during books 3 or 4,it was honestly a treat to reread OotP as I haven't read it cover to cover since it's release. Returning to this phase of Harry's life as an adult was fascinating. Know what was to come made all the stupid mistakes everyone made so much more painful to read, but all of the characters' motivations made sense too. Ugh. Suffice it to say, I really really loved this reread, but found the second half hard to read as Trump was officially inaugurate as US president and too many parallels were easy to draw between Umbridge and the corrupt government with Trump and his emerging administration.

This reread has finally gotten far enough from the rose-tinted glasses to see how holey and underdeveloped the plot is.

[Spoiler Free Review]The first book in the series and what a great introduction it is. It's not my favourite, but it does hold a special place in my heart and you can't deny how deeply iconic it is. What a unique and interesting world, thank you JK Rowling for giving children and adults alike some magic in their everyday lives.

[Spoiler Free Review]It's still a great book, but I take away two stars because I honestly can't remember what the hell happened in this book xD This book was Harry at his most insufferable too, maybe that's why my brain is protecting me. To be fair, Harry has every right to be this way, he is greatly traumatized and I feel for him. I still cringe at him and Cho though.
