The biggest strength of Darker is how it transforms Christian from a mysterious romantic hero into a fully realized person. His insecurities, nightmares, protective instincts, and desperate need to keep Ana safe add layers that weren't fully visible in Ana's version of the story. Every argument, misunderstanding, and romantic moment carries extra weight because readers understand exactly what's at stake for him emotionally.And then there's the obsession. Not the billionaire fantasy version..the raw, all..consuming love that leaves Christian terrified of losing Ana. His internal struggle between wanting to protect her and wanting to let her be independent creates some of the most compelling moments in the book.The suspense elements also feel heightened through Christian's eyes. The threats surrounding Ana, the pressure from his past, and the constant fear that everything he's built could fall apart kept me completely invested from beginning to end.
