Riding the Waves is a collection of four Maori stories for children, created by award-winning New Zealand children's writer and illustrator Gavin Bishop.

A sequel to Taming the Sun, this stunning book contains two well-known legends (Maui finds his family and Maui and the goddess of fire) and two less well-known legends (Hatupatu and the birdwoman and Rata and his waka).
