Gostei mais ou menos! A proposta de ficção científica aqui serve muito mais pra camuflar uma crítica filosófica e política à URSS do que pra criar ação ou suspense. Em alguns momentos a leitura flui bem, em outros é mais arrastada.
O personagem Red foi o que mais me prendeu! A ideia de que os alienígenas invadiram a Terra, deixaram sua “tralha” para trás e simplesmente foram embora é totalmente diferente do que se costuma ver no gênero. Se o objetivo era que os humanos se desenvolvessem com aquilo, não deu certo. Nós não temos a capacidade necessária para compreender uma tecnologia tão avançada.
Somos insignificantes... os alienígenas fizeram isso para nos estudar ou apenas para usar nosso planeta para o descarte de seus materiais?! (de acordo com o pensamento do próprio ser humano no livro). 💭
No fundo, tudo isso foi escrito para mostrar como os seres humanos, assim como na URSS, eram manipulados e limitados por forças que mal entendiam.
Uma leitura instigante, cheia de reflexões sobre o sentido da vida, da inteligência e da própria humanidade.

A classic book that I feel is a look into the past from the people of a country I have yet to visit. People are so quick to judge one another yet fail to realize that everyone is struggling in their own way and that certain actions have consequences that can very well affect others. The selfishness portrayed by idealistic corporations and people in this book help the reader understand the harsh truths and fears at the time of publication.
I had seen the film Stalker so was keen to read the book upon which it was based. The premise was the same as the film but the scenes and action were very different.I admit that I found this a difficult read. It was a bit too philosophical for me. I don't like everything spelt out for me but I think for this book I'd need a bit of explanation before I could understand and appreciate it. It is a facinating idea for a story though.
