Petroleum geologist, Cortlandt Scott, has had a successful career in the rough and tumble Denver oil business. After years of showing drilling prospects and chasing investors, he decides to get away from the toil and try something new. Hoping to capitalize on his insider knowledge, he opts to become a private investigator specializing in oil field crime and fraudulent business practices. The career change results in far more than he anticipated: violence, tragedy, personal danger, and soul-searching self analysis. His learn-on-the-job investigative methods cause him to question his morals and motives. The answers aren't always what he wants to find out about himself.
