It is to be regretted that this general term should have been appropriated by them; Materialists, they should have been named, because they assert that souls are made of highly tenuous matter. But the mischief is done and the self-applied term must re main their monopoly.
Two generations have passed since Spiritualism gained a footing in this country, wherefore it seems well that its origin and early history should have record. Few know that it came of tainted parent age and that it grew up in an atmosphere of fraud, which still clings to it.
