Hold please while I recover. A small part of me can not believe this story is a debut novel. But then again, I seem to be getting blown away by debut authors recently, so I am also not surprised. This book is an outstanding start to a shifter fated mates series. Kayleigh does a splendid job writing her version of this popular trope. Pruitt doesn’t remember anything from her past, and when she comes home to Montana, she inadvertently sets a series of events in to motion. Now a couple things feel pretty self explanatory, but there is still enough unknowns in the story to keep you reading. Then there are times you go “oh that explains that happening before.” The one thing that felt weird to me was the dislike I had for Avery. Why? My daughters name is Avery. So it definitely felt odd reading about her especially when my small child was sitting next to me.I went through many emotions reading this book. Excitement for Pru. Indignation at Ryker. Anger, sadness, joy. All in all, I am happy with how their story ended, and I am looking forward to the new story in book 2.
