I don't know what to say. The book is excellent; not a single dull moment. And the ending blew my mind so little I expected it.My personal tip would be to read this after or before you read Meat by Joseph D'lacey. Trust me, the two books are like twin flames and would give you different perspectives on the same issue.
⭐️3.5-3.75Deeply disturbing and unpleasant content-wise, but completely gripping and intentional. I’ll admit it took me a few chapters to fully understand the new world and how their system worked, but once it clicked, it really clicked, and I couldn’t stop reading.That last chapter… yeah. Men will always be men. I wasn’t fully expecting the ending we got, but I’m satisfied with it because it definitely sparks conversation. Agustina Bazterrica is an incredibly talented writer.This is a very divisive book, which I totally get. You'll either like it, think it’s just fine, or strongly dislike it. Surprisingly, it really worked for me and ended up being a great way to start my 2026.Side note: there’s something about the cover that just does it for me. Like… what a cover.
Disturbing not necessarily for over-the-top gore, but for the moral punch it delivers. Grotesque, bleak, and oddly gripping. In a future where humans survive by consuming human meat, the unthinkable becomes routine. The third-person narration—and maybe the translation—can feel a bit stiff, but the story still hits hard."Tender is the Flesh" horrifies through humanity, not monsters. Brutal, incisive, and unapologetically bleak. A chilling, thought-provoking read that sticks with you.

Even though it was disgusting, it showed how inhumane humans can be. 🪞 Didn’t love:I got so bored of the zoo scenes. 🌙 Fav Quote: “The human being is the cause of all evil in this world. How does a book with such an interesting and disturbing premise get so be SO. INCREDIBLY. BORING? I'll tell you how. You overwrite it to the extreme. I see how a lot of the side story was important for the shock factor of the book, but did I really need to know every single thought in this man's head?The book was disturbing, I feel like I need to go vegan after reading it. I totally understand how, reading this, your main thoughts would be "humans are the worst animals". The ending was predictable, in my opinion, but I've seen a lot of people who were taken by surprise.I appreciate how elaborate and disturbing the world building was, but I cannot get over the fact that it's a 7h audiobook, which I've listened to on 3x speed, and it still felt like the longest 100 hours of my life.

vile, horrid, and utterly grotesque but yet so captivating it felt hard to put down.
