Although I enjoyed this book, I kept thinking I had started a series part way through? And at first I was thinking I'd rate it at 3 ⭐, but I think by the end Iit was nearly a 4⭐, so that's what I chose. The World building of this series is interesting 🤔 The factions that were in the world were quite different to some Urban Fantasy.Society has reorganized into powerful factions based on magical abilities:The one I got the most was:The Pack: Curran was my favorite character after Kate He is the Leader of the shapeshifters (werewolves, werebears, etc.) usual Pack hierarchy. The People: A group of necromancers (Masters of the Dead) who can remotely pilot "mindless" vampires like biological machines. THIS GROUP were the ones I found most hard to understand, being that Vampires were basically Dead puppets. The Order: Formally known as the Order of Knights of Merciful Aid, they are a quasi-religious, government-sanctioned group that polices magical crimes. The Mercenary Guild: A group of magic-for-hire individuals, including Kate herself, who handle paranormal problems for a fee. By the time I finished this book, I was definitely invested in this urban fantasy world, and I hope to find some more of the series soon 😆
wow, I didn't expect to really like this book, but i'm already reading the next one.I'm really growing to like Kate. I think I'll be reading the rest of the series.....if I can find them all at the library that is.
