I HATE the miscommunication trope (especially in a pre-existing couple) and I don't particularly enjoy second chance romance stories. Why did I choose to read this anyway? Because I love Chloe Liese's writing and I've been determined to read this series in order (even though I'm more excided about some stories than others).I just couldn't get invested in Freya and Aiden's story because my brain kept thinking that there's no way these people were "happily married" for 10 years and had this level of disconnect and not knowing each other. Yes, some of the struggles in their relationship were new, but some fundamental ones that didn't just appear out of nowhere. And I'm sorry, but this level of miscommunication and shutting each other out of your life does not work with the idea of a couple who's been together for a decade.
