A rotund Japanese man smiles, revealing several missing teeth. He somehow senses your hunger. The man ushers you into a crowded restaurant. It isn’t long before you realize that a supernatural sushi bar awaits your perusal. Without a word exchanged between you and the large man, you find yourself seated at the bar. Behind the counter, a chef nods at you and then smirks. You shiver at his actions because it seemed to harbor more than common courtesy. Something menacing was behind that gesture.
A waitress in a long Kimono arrives at the bar. Although you never ordered, a small pitcher of sake is placed to your side and a bowl of miso soup is thrust before you. The chef nods again, urging you to eat and drink. You reluctantly oblige.
The waitress hands you a long, laminated strip of paper with a Sushi and Sashimi menu printed on it. Your stomach lurches, but it is difficult to tell whether it is from hunger or horror as you read the choices. Thirteen specialties are on the menu, including tales of:
● An ancient mummy, promising fertility to those who touch its decrepit wrappings
● Soldiers in the post-apocalyptic future battle unpredictable demons
● A priest conspires to help a young girl flee tyranny by having her share a coffin with a corpse.
You point to a few things and the waitress nods, seemingly floating away towards the kitchen. You’ve made your choice. Now, you will find out that raw meat isn’t all its cooked up to be!
