The frequency of this book felt off. Not sure where the story is going. Also not sure if I can finish the rest of the series.
Plated prisoner series is one of my favorite series. I love the MMC and MFC, Auren's journey to overcome all her struggles in life will have you feeling all the emotions. The other characters also have great stories, and one side character in particular has an amazing redemption story.
First book of the year. I loved this so much. I cannot wait to finish this series. Its enemies to lovers, multiple love interests, the make and lore is absolutely stunning.-> 4.5 stars
4 Stars – A Gritty, Twisted Fairytale of Power, Pain, and Finding Your VoiceThe Plated Prisoner series is one of those reads that creeps up on you—the kind that feels familiar at first, but slowly morphs into something much deeper, darker, and more empowering. Inspired loosely by the King Midas myth, this series offers a brutal and beautifully written look at trauma, captivity, and what it means to break free—not just from others, but from the lies we tell ourselves.Auren is a fascinating protagonist. At the start, she’s Midas’s prized possession—literally gilded in gold, kept in a cage, and convinced that her life is one of love and protection. But as the series progresses, she begins to question everything she’s been told, and watching her unravel those beliefs, piece by piece, is incredibly satisfying. Her growth is the heart of this story—slow, painful, but powerful.Midas is as manipulative and toxic as they come, and Raven Kennedy does an excellent job showing just how insidious emotional abuse can be. Then enters Slade (or Commander Rip
In interesting take on the legend of Midas, the gold touched king. But little does everyone know, that he has a secret; she is kept isolated and alone. The rumor of this gilded girl has finally been confirmed as realm politics change and other worlds are uncovered.
This was everything I wanted from a dark fantasy romance!! My expectations were low going in but it turned out fantastic! I wasn't expecting the plot twist or the direction the story took in the second half. It reminded me very much of Sea of Ruin, which is one of my favourites. 🙂↕️ For a 400 page book, this flew by. I couldn't stop thinking about it when I wasn't reading it. Definitely heavy trigger warning though, this is much darker than I anticipated and with on page r**e. For how popular this series is in the common booktube/ booktok community, I wasn't expecting the graphic nature of it. I expect that from my regular dark romance books 😅 5 gilded stars! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Slow going but seems like it's building to something for the following books. Hopefully picks up a bit in book two

The MC was in her head waaay too much. This felt like a very young YA but with graphic on page mature scenes to make it adult.
