Graded Expectations

To postpone his inevitable fate of perpetual struggle and defeat,
Marion Bahann buys time with federal grants and student loans,
but it arrives unexpectedly on a Thursday afternoon,
and in the form of Asha Yancy,
a recent college graduate
who has done everything
that Marion has not, and
yet finds herself seasonably employed
and living in a library.

Bound by circumstance and proximity
they accomplish nothing,
except for a petty crime of passion
that sends them to the
Occupy Wall Street protests
and marching halfway
across the Brooklyn Bridge.
