Harry has a dream --- he dreams of one day making a movie. But what he has in imagination and originality, he more than lacks in self-belief --- due largely to his Tourette's Syndrome --- oh yes! --- and lack of money.
Harry however, has a number one fan --- his granny, a woman of fearsome determination. Secretly she submits one of his video works to the most important independent film competition in the country --- and this is when the fireworks begin.
This hilarious tale of a young man's tribulations with a terrible affliction and the inevitable scrapes that his condition get him in to, are reminiscent of the high days of quirky British comedy.
The dialogue pops and fizzles in a strange manner that seems to hang one degree to the left of reality.
We follow our hapless hero as he meets strange and wonderful characters on a path of discovery to the realisation that he is indeed a worthy person, capable of being loved for his talent and creativity, and above all, for his true character. A person to be judged by the spirit of who he is, rather than a person defined by the confines of his disability.
Offbeat people pepper the script like --- er -- pepper. Luminaries such Justin Di Fruitier --- God's gift to daytime television; Monica del Monico ---bearer of unfeasibly large breasts and Italy's voluptuous gift to foreign film festivals; Jens Jensen --- German director extraordinaire(with ever so slight Nazi tendencies) --- to name but a few.
Oh, what the hell, why not name more? --- Zak and Zelda, the couple mismatched in love; Vicious Sid who beat up his anger management officer, Tito the flatulent cat; Larry Schwartzenberger, the producer with a heart of gold(14 carat), -- soon to bring us a musical horror film The Sound Of Mutants.
Enjoy the voyage(more like a trip)of self-discovery, as Harry not exactly meets Sally, but someone just as sweet and important to his life.
Bon voyage.
