Joe Orton: A Casebook

Joe Orton: A Casebook is the first ever collection of Orton scholarship and includes essays from most of the prominent scholars in the field. The book is divided into two sections, "Texts" and "Contexts", in an attempt to theorize not only Orton's theatrical work but also his controversial life in the Swinging London of the 1960s. The articles tackle a range of Orton-related subjects: the plays for which Orton is most famous; the recently published early works; the controversial and hilarious Orton Diaries; John Lahr's biography of Orton, Prick up Your Ears; and the Stephen Frears' biopic of the same title starring Gary Oldman.
