Beschreibung

Konrad Klapheck (Düsseldorf 1935) is an outstanding figure of German contemporary art. He started to work in the mid-Fifties and has exhibited in important museums worldwide. Klapheck makes poetry out of everyday objects often portraying machinery, tools and mechanical components with sober precision, transforming them into enigmatic and monumental icons of the present day which relate both to Surrealism and Pop Art. This monograph includes an introductory essay by Arturo Schwarz; the recognized authority on Klapheck's work and explores the artist's career from the outset to the present day, through the reproduction of over 140 works. Among them, a series of works never seen before, dedicated to the human figure: a rarity that will be of interest to critics, collectors, and art lovers. The book also includes some writings by the artist himself, by André Breton and by Werner Schmalenbach, and a complete bio-bibliography.
