Bea always wanted to be a mom, but she never expected she'd have to lose her best friend to do it. Armed with nothing but her best friend's eggs and a bucket list to complete, Bea's world is a sea of changes.
When Silas steps in to give her a place to live when she needs it, Bea is half-relieved she has a longtime friend in her corner. A firefighter living in the wake of an accident, Silas has his own challenges to work through that have left him cautious and vulnerable in equal measure. At first, they expect nothing. But as these two former sunshines knit together in a love that has been unfulfilled till now, a new beginning comes out of the ashes of the past. One that will lead to a love that can withstand all the slings and arrows, joys and triumphs, that life can throw.

Alle anzeigenGod damn you Tarah DeWitt. I truly dont understand how her writing keeps getting better. Tarah's writing has a way of really burrowing into you and digging out all your feelings. I have never not laughed and I have never not cried reading a Tarah DeWitt novel.I adore Bea and Silas. May we all be so lucky to have people like them in our lives. HOWEVER, I will say I straight up hated Merritt. I think a lot of that has to do with being in my 30s. The biggest reason I disliked her was because who the hell freezes their eggs, leaves them to their best friend, and DOESNT TELL THEM?!?! It felt very manipulative and selfish. It should have been a conversation before Merritt died. It honestly truly disgusted me because you're preying on your best friend's grief. I know we didn't get Merrit's perspective, but I do not think she was a good friend at all.I also disliked her because of how the Silas crush was handled. Being in my 30s, I look at that and say Bea and Silas had an incredible connection and if she's your best friend, you put aside your crush and root for her. As a teenager though... I see how that can be "girl code". I STILL DIDNT LIKE IT THOUGH.
