Mock Raven

When it comes reputation, a PI needs to have a good one. Not a silly one. Not a bad one. Unfortunately for Bram Farrell, aka The Raven, a magic using investigator taking miscreants of various nonhuman genus down in Detroit, his is about to suffer. On two fronts. Bram thought being roped into test flying a creation his former professor, Nick Flammel, dreamed up – one that has the wings of a stingray, the mane and tale of a horse, spits fire like a dragon, but is basically a fluffy yellow chicken headed toward T-Rex proportions was going to do for him. Both his reputation and…well, a fall off the back of a chicken who actually could fly wouldn’t be good either. Then he met the harpies and discovered his reputation had taken a much more major hit. Garden variety humans had watched him take down a harpy while she was in human form. Except it hadn’t been him! Finding, then visiting justice on the guy who is wearing his face and using his name jets to the top of Bram’s self-preservation list.

The question is, which one of them will still be standing when the confrontation is Bram himself or the Mock Raven? Heavy doses of sarcasm! But if that doesn't take down a perp, well, there's always magic to fall back on. This is the second in a series of prequel novellas in the Raven Tales urban fantasy mystery series.

About the DANE is a pseudonym of a multi-published, multi-genre novelist who goes by many names. Not because she is in Witness Protection. Really not in Witness Protection. Really. She may start hiding from citizens of Detroit since her Raven Tales urban fantasy comedic mysteries have populated their fair city with neighbors who might be supernatural, paranormal or legendary beasts…or not so beasts…but probably ARE beasts.
