The very same Crow who controls the gang that Kash is being paid to hunt down, all in search of a woman's missing son. If Kash can track down The Crow, he’ll get his money—and his vengeance. Two birds, one stone.

That is until Kash interrupts The Crow’s dangerous ritual to resurrect an ancient snake built of bone and shadow. With the ritual incomplete, the snake is left to rampage masterless across the desert, heading for the dam: the sole water supply in a place that only knows drought.

Forced to team up with The Crow when it becomes clear that lives—and his payday—are at stake, Kash has to put his distrust of the sorcerer aside just long enough to prevent a catastrophe. But up against a political system determined to crush them, a religious institution determined to control them, and a magical snake determined to destroy them, The Crow quickly becomes the only person Kash can trust.

As roles of villain and victim become twisted, the truth of who The Crow is doesn’t seem so clear-cut. And as Kash’s feelings turn tide, he must reckon with his trauma and his heart, before the desert kills them both.
