The summer of 1972, before I turned nine, danger began knocking on doors all over China.
Ling lives a comfortable life with her parents in Wuhan. But when Comrade Li, one of Mao's political officers, moves into a room in their apartment, things begin to change for the worse. A powereful story, told with hope and humour, of a girl growing up and fighting to survive during the Cultural Revolution.
