The second book in the series The Highlander Guard, tells the story of forbidden love between Ellie and Erik or Hawk, call it what you like. I loved them. And I identified a lot with Ellie. I fell in love with the Hawk and his relaxed way, but at the same time very cunning. He reminded me of Cassian and Leo Valdez, two characters I love so much. So there was no way not to love him too. I loved the scenarios in which the story took place. Unlike the first book, this one explores other places, some even outside Scotland, such as the northern coast of Ireland, which would now be Northern Ireland. The question of the Scottish revolt is also further developed in this book. And while I know a little bit of the true story, I'm rooting for their success. The only thing I think I didn't really like was that, in my opinion, the ending was a bit rushed. I didn't enjoy how the author solved the problem, but that's ok, that didn't make me dislike the book. I'm looking forward to reading the Ranger storey and immersing myself even more in their world.
