The story was a bit too convoluted and a bit too "descent into madness" for my taste. I did like Francesca's chapters the most, because I found them to be a very interesting exploration of this particular type of person, self-obsessed, self-absorbed, totally removed from reality.
⭐️2.25Probably my least favourite Lucy Foley book, alongside 'The Guest List'. The thing about Lucy Foley's books is that they often lean toward the dull side. The plot here was slow-moving, not particularly interesting, and at times, felt convoluted. The characters lacked depth and weren't compelling enough to make me care about their POVs. The folklore and references to birds did nothing for me, and the book felt unnecessarily long, likely due to the multiple POVs and timelines. The best part of the book was the few plot twists near the end, but even those led to an underwhelming finish. I had been anticipating this book, as it had been a while since I last read a Lucy Foley book and I was curious to see what she had to offer. Unfortunately, I was let down.
