There are a few things DI Eddy Souness doesn’t believe in. God for one; the supernatural for another; and definitely not bodies bursting into flames of their own volition! Logic and scepticism rule his world – logic, scepticism and belligerence; it’s what’s made him a successful detective – albeit a lonely one. But that’s how he likes it.
All that’s coming to an end now, retirement is being forced upon him; whether he wants it or not. Hence the reason they’ve stuck him on this dead-end case – to keep him quiet until he goes. But Eddy doesn’t do quiet, and he definitely doesn’t believe in something called Spontaneous Human Combustion as an explanation for two macabre deaths.
But what transpires as the body count rises will push his beliefs to the limit.
What will break first - Eddy or his convictions?
