There’s a high focus on the world-building and political intrigue but some of it wasn’t super clear and there’s so many names to keep track of that I found myself confused through parts of it. I really liked the FMC, Vassa, and watching her character growth, even if it seemed a bit of a sudden switch. The pacing felt a bit off for the first half which made it harder to get into but it really picks up after that point. It ends on a huge cliffhanger and while, overall, I did enjoy this book, I don’t know if it drew me in enough to continue.
Iba a ciegas con el libro porqué no había oído nada de él y e decir que si me gusto y pienso continuar con la continuación.
This is a beautiful read! If you're looking for an arranged marriage trope, but you're tired of the "delicate woman becomes wife in a strange land so he takes care of her" theme, this book is for you! Vaasa is a strong woman in her own right. All though her marriage is arranged, she is ultimately given a choice and enters it willingly. We see her and Reid slowly build a bond, I love to see a strong friendship rather than insta-lust. The world building was in depth and complex but not difficult to understand.I wish we got more explanation on Vaasa's magic, I feel like I don't fully understand it still. I also felt like the book seemed to go in circles a bit. It felt like we had a lot of questions and not a lot of answers, but not in the way that hooks you, more like "oh I guess we don't care about that other thing anymore?". Overall I really liked it and will read the next one, it just doesn't quite make my top list.
