"Another triumph from the master crafter of epic fantasy." - Rose Auburn, Amazon reviewer
Baard Thon is battle-scared beyond his years. But now, as magic has failed and his troops are shattered, only a desperate ruse can turn the tide of war.
If his plan fails, Baard might destroy the Wrathlords, ride his dragon to the Empire, and learn silver-level magic from the Archmage. If it fails, bloodthirsty monsters will roll over the devastated human and elven troops and march onto the capital to ravage, kill, and devour human flesh.
The plan is so insane that Baard contemplates forsaking it. Besides, his keen instincts keep telling him that a disaster awaits him regardless of the outcome...
